Judges 2:20-23 (HCSB)

20 The Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He declared, “Because this nation has violated My covenant that I made with their fathers and disobeyed Me, 21 I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died. 22 I did this to test Israel and to see whether they would keep the Lord’s way by walking in it, as their fathers had.23 The Lord left these nations and did not drive them out immediately. He did not hand them over to Joshua.

Our disobedience has consequences. Our role is to listen and obey the Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. When we do not, there are harsh ramifications. God is a just and holy God, and all who turn away should be ware. You cannot out run Him, you cannot escape Him, you cannot hide from Him, you CANNOT. While we are reminded of this throughout the Bible, Judges is highlighting this, as well as other passages such as Psalm 139.

Any attempt to run is a fruitless endeavor. Yet we, just as the Israelites did, still try. We think it will be different and end different for us, but God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Ultimately, Jesus is and will be our judge. One day we will all stand before Him and be accountable having to answer for every empty word, for ourselves, and our lives. Are you living a life worthy of the calling you have received?
