QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK
1. Human nature is often selfish. I am so unlike Jesus, who gave up His place in Heaven to make an opportunity for me to one day join Him there. Part of being Christ-like is a core humility. Where do you struggle being humble? Where are you tempted to push others aside on your way to the front?
2. Another characteristic of Christ is that His humility cost Him greatly. He “emptied Himself,” (Phil. 2:6-7). More than just occasionally giving to others, it was constantly costly to Jesus. Is there anything off-limits in your life? What is the limit of how much you are willing to be emptied of? At what point is constantly costly too expensive? For Jesus – nothing.
3. The end result of Jesus’ sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2 and Philippians 2:5-8) is that EVERY knee will one day bow before Jesus. One day EVERY tongue will confess – including every lost person AND every demon. How often does your knee bow to Christ’s leadership? How often does your tongue confess Christ as Lord? Where are you working to help others do the same?
