Questions for the Week
1. In 1 Timothy 6:6-7 Paul brings up “contentment.” Think about the things that cause you the most anxiety. What are they? What about them causes your concern? Now think about the moments that you are most content. What are they? Why are you content? If you are in a season of discontent, how can you bring that to God?
2. Contentment is not just a list of things to avoid. It is also something to pursue – even more so, it is someone to pursue. How are you with the things Paul lists in 1 Timothy 6:11-12? Which one of those do you struggle with most? Which one do you feel best about?
3. Paul is not condemning “riches” in 1 Timothy 6:17. We know this because vs. 10 states that the “LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” To be honest, we typically don’t have to worry about where our next meal comes from. With our basic needs met, how can we position ourselves to be “generous and ready to share,” as Paul says?
