October 24 A Note from Pastor HD

Wow!! Only two more months and we will be at the end of 2022.  It has been an interesting year for Temple Baptist Church.  We are still eagerly awaiting the completion of our building and the new opportunities that God is going to bring us.

As we come to the end of the year don’t forget the challenge we have had before us all year long… “to be doers of the word and not hearers only” because Jesus is coming soon.  We want to find ourselves ready for His return. This final book will take us through 2 Kings and many of the prophecies about the birth of Jesus through the Old Testament prophets.  2 Kings shows us the total depravity and ineptness of any human to be our leader.  The Old Testament readily shows that prophets, priests, and kings failed to lead the people of God completely to the One that Loved them most.  We need a truthful prophet; we need a holy priest; and we need a righteous king.  So, we see our desperate need for Jesus, Immanuel, God with us.  He would come to show us truth as our Prophet; He would come to sacrifice Himself for us as our High Priest; and He would come to rule over us as the King of kings.  While the end of the Old Testament leaves us bewildered by the failures of man, it also gives us that glimmer of hope that Messiah will come to do for us what we could never do for ourselves.
