QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK
1. Jezebel did some horrific stuff – one time she had a man murdered over a property dispute. When Jehu became King of Israel, God used him to get rid of some of her influence. Yet, in 2 Kings 10:31 it says that Jehu didn’t follow God with all his heart. How do you feel, knowing that God chooses to use imperfect (sometimes evil!) people to complete His perfect will?
2. Joash became King of Judah at 7 (2 Kings 11:21)! Obviously, a 7-year-old can’t reign well. 2 Kings 12:2 says that he did right because righteous Jehoiada was instructing him. The ruler before Joash was evil – Athaliah murdered family to take charge! Are you willing to choose God even if those before you didn’t? Where do you go for wisdom, for righteous instruction?
3. By Joash’s reign, the Temple was over 100 years old. Further, during Athaliah’s time, items were taken from it for Baal worship. Joash ordered the priest to repair it but things weren’t happening quickly enough. Like Joash, where has God asked you to move quickly for Him? Like the priests, where are you tempted to drag your feet when God commands you to move?
