QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK
1. In Isaiah 7:10-25, there is an initial fulfillment of prophecy in that time – it was evidence that God was with Israel still. However, the major fulfillment was in Jesus – “God with us” (Immanuel). Why does it matter that Jesus lived as a human before He died on the Cross. Why would Isaiah include the detail about a virgin girl?
2. In Isaiah 9:1-7 Jesus is described as a great light, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Which of those do you appreciate most? Which do you feel is lacking in your relationship with Jesus? Do you experience those in your relationship with God more now or at some other time in your life? Why/why not?
3. Galatians 4:4-7 uses a curious phrase – “when the fullness of time had come.” Basically, this means the peace, safer travel, and common language (Greek) then helped the Gospel to take root all over. How does this help you trust God’s timing in YOUR life when things go badly? What about when they DO go your way? Do you trust God with your plans…or yourself?
