Genesis 1:1-2 (HCSB)
The Creation
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Sherry Dorris
The Bible begins with the words, “In the beginning.” Every person and everything has a beginning. These first few verses in Genesis display God’s power as He created and colored the world with goodness and beauty. We start off in darkness, but it gets better! God formed the Earth and Heavens with His hands. As I read and prepared for this writing, the song “Goodness of God” kept coming to my mind. “All my life He has been faithful, and all my life You have been so, so good; with every breath that I am able, Oh I will sing of the goodness of God.” I hope we all can truly understand how blessed we really are. God thought of each one of us on that first day of creation. Let that sink in – take a walk and enjoy all the good things God created in the beginning. It’s not too late to start a new beginning with a relationship with Jesus Christ.
