Romans 1:16-17 (HCSB)
The Righteous Will Live by Faith
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. 17 For in it God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.
Haley Dorris
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel...” To be ashamed means to be embarrassed or humiliated. When I feel ashamed, it is because I have done or said something wrong which then leads to embarrassment/humiliation. These emotions then cause me to lose confidence in myself or whatever the situation may be. Should embarrassment or humiliation go along with sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ? No! Paul was very confident in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ because he knew the gospel was (and still is) true. Are you as confident as Paul was or are you ashamed? If you ever feel embarrassed of being a Christian and sharing your faith, remember what the gospel is all about. The gospel is the message of salvation through Jesus. That is nothing to feel ashamed of.
