1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 31-33 (HCSB)
Christian Liberty
23 “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is helpful. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything builds up. 24 No one should seek his own good, but the good of the other person.
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory. 32 Give no offense to the Jews or the Greeks or the church of God, 33 just as I also try to please all people in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, so that they may be saved.

I teach 6th grade science and one of my favorite units to teach is Earth’s Systems which includes weather! And if you and I are Facebook friends, you also know that I love tracking a snowstorm and/or a polar vortex and I will tell you all about it. I remember one particular snowstorm, and with each update I would share, there would be negative messages, negative comments on social media or said to me personally. I remember one sweet soul posting, “All this week you’ve been warning us about this, thank you!” I could have remembered all the negative comments and who said them but instead, I chose to remember the person who was THANKFUL! Paul reminds us that not everything is beneficial or constructive, even if we have the freedom to do it. I thought about the people who had something negative to say about that incoming snowstorm. Maybe they were having a bad day or maybe they dislike snow and thought their negative comments could keep it from coming. They had the ability to scroll on and not say something negative but instead, they chose negativity that day over something that none of us had control over. Just because we can post something doesn’t mean we should, especially if it could harm others or lead them into confusion or sin.
