Psalm 100 (HCSB)
Be Thankful
A psalm of thanksgiving.
1 Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs.
3 Acknowledge that Yahweh is God.
He made us, and we are His —
His people, the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving
and His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
5 For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal;
His faithfulness endures through all generations.
BJ and Kim Stahlin
Five short verses, yet how many hymns and songs of worship and praise have been derived from them to help and encourage us to praise our Lord? I encourage you to sing these rather than read them; Shout to the Lord all the earth, let us sing... Give thanks to the Lord our God and King, His love endures forever... Come Let Us Worship and Bow Down, we sing For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. For those of us who were praising in the 70s or 80s, you may remember He Has Made Me Glad... I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter His courts with praise....Do we believe our God is who He says He is throughout scripture? Shout triumphantly, He is in charge of all things. Serve Him with gladness through the gifts He has given you, and yes, sing, even if you don’t have a bucket to carry a tune. Acknowledge and know, beyond any doubt, that He is God. But not just some unseen, supernatural force that neither knows nor cares for you. But YOUR God, who created you in His image, who loves you and cared for you so much to send His Son to live, die, and rise again to redeem you to Himself. You are HIS! Therefore, as Paul would say, let’s come together with energy and excitement, enter His gates and courts and praise Him, thank Him, and bless Him! And, my apologies if this sounds judgmental, but it will be very difficult to do any of these with a scowl, folded arms, or hands in our pockets.
