 James 1:12-15  (HCSB)
12 A man who endures trials is blessed, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
13 No one undergoing a trial should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God is not tempted by evil, and He Himself doesn’t tempt anyone. 14 But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires. 15 Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.

Verse 12 starts out like the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:1-12. It does not say “blessed is the one who is never tempted or goes through trials,” but, “blessed is the one who endures.” Their blessing will be the crown of life. Trials and temptations are part of life and God does not tempt me to sin.  This comes from the father of lies, (John 8:44). God cannot be tempted by evil; we are tempted by the evil one. Our faith gives us strength when tempted because our love for Him is greater than our love for sin. Being prepared for trials and temptations includes spending time in God’s Word, with other believers, and with Him in prayer. My prayer for you today is that your love for Jesus is greater than the temptation placed before you.
