James 1:19-21  (HCSB)
Hearing and Doing the Word

19 My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, 20 for man’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. 21 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and evil, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save you.

Shannon Jamison

Are we slow to speak and quick to listen, waiting to hear all the story before giving an opinion? If we are slow to speak, we should control the words that come out of our mouth and not blurt everything out we are thinking. This reminds me of a childhood verse used in our house, Psalm 19:14. It was a reminder to “let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in the sight of the Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer”. My prayer for you today is that you have self-discipline and control when dealing with others, including controlling your anger or frustrations.
