James 5:7-11 (HCSB)
Waiting for the Lord
7 Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.
9 Brothers, do not complain about one another, so that you will not be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door!
10 Brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience. 11 See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

It’s the journey they say. It’s the getting there that is fun, not so much what’s there at the end of the trip, but the enjoyment of the trip itself. Poppycock. Bologna. Pssh. Get me to Gatlinburg quick, and don’t stop at Buc-ee’s ... please. What’s this got to do with the scripture for today? Who knows. But what I do know is that it doesn’t do a whole lot of good to grumble and complain on your journey through life as you try to get where you want to go. Even if the journey aggravates, complaining only always makes it feel worse. I love a garden. But it’s a lot of work and can be frustrating. But man, when you get those fresh vegetables, it’s great isn’t it? You can enjoy that food knowing it took a journey to get it, which in turn makes you appreciate the journey itself. It all works together ... ready? ... for good! When you look back at your life as a Christian, you can see markers where God took care of you when you couldn’t or wouldn’t take care of yourself. He’s that kind. He has that much compassion for us. He is with us all the time, and all He really expects of us is to look up and say thanks. When you feel a little impatient in your situation along whatever journey you are on right now, try this – stop for a minute, look up (or wherever you think He is), and tell Him thanks. For all the good around you. Remember the times He had your back. And made you smile. I can predict with certainty you will feel a big relief and be a lot happier and content almost immediately (unless you are at Buc-ee’s ... just sayin’).
